Soloist Diona Johnson and conductor Josh Aerie rehearse a section from William Grant Still’s oratorio, “And They Lynched Him on a Tree,” at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth this week. The work, along with Still’s Second Symphony and the premiere of “We Three Kings” by Duluth composer Rudy Perrault will be performed as the Clayton Jackson McGhie Memorial Concert on Sunday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at St. Scholastica ‘s Mitchell Auditorium. Aerie, Perrault and concert organizer Julia Cheng sat down with Simply Superior host Robin Washington to discuss the music and the history behind it.
