Duluth (Along With Superior) Does Elton John

Thirteen years ago, Elton John made history with his performance at a packed Duluth Entertainment Convention Center — one of the Twin Ports’ biggest concerts ever. On Saturday, 30+ local performers, roughly evenly divided between Superior and Duluth, as well as the greater region, returned the respect with a sold-out Elton John tribute concert at Duluth’s historic Sacred Heart Music Center. 

Performers included Misisipi Mike Wolf, Danny & Angie Frank, Shane Nelson, Skarlett Woods and Breanne Marie, along with two dozen other favorites of the Twin Ports music scene. Co-emcees Northern News Now anchor Laura Lee and “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington made entertaining banter with performers who have been musical guests on “Simply Superior.” The 3-hour concert is condensed for broadcast on Friday, Feb. 2 at 10 a.m.
