January on the shores of Lake Superior means at least one thing is plentiful…ice! The Lake Superior Ice Festival kicks off this weekend with some modifications due to Covid-19. Host Robin Washington talks with organizers of the festival this week on “Simply Superior”, plus an encore presentation from musician Charlie Parr.
Signs of the Lake Superior Ice Festival are visible all around the community, with massive ice sculptures popping up outside of local businesses. The free, family oriented and mostly outdoor event will go on this year with some notable changes due to Covid-19, featuring snow sculpting, ice races, disc golf, and fat tire bike demos.
Also on this week’s show, a look back at the mid-pandemic live-streamed concert by Minnesota musician Charlie Parr. Washington spoke with Parr about his songs and how the last year has challenged the music community.
