Host Robin Washington speaks with health experts about the ongoing work of getting the community vaccinated, including dispelling common myths about the shots. Plus, one of those health experts does double duty as this week’s featured performing artist.

University of Minnesota Medical School at Duluth immunologist Glenn Simmons, Ph.D., and Douglas County Health Officer Kathy Ronchi, R.N., talk about COVID-19 vaccines: how they work, the challenges in communicating the importance of vaccination to rural and marginalized communities, and how and when you can get yours.

Simmons changes hats in the second segment of the program as this week’s featured artist. Outside of his work in health care he is also known as the poet Logik in 3rd Person. He was part of the recent “This Moment in Time” show organized by Duluth musician and producer Daniel Oyinloye. Simmons shares some of his poems and talks about his philosophy of writing and performing, as well as the duality of his divergent vocations.

Rounding out “Simply Superior”, Washington is joined by reporters from WPR and the Star Tribune’s North Report to review the headlines and highlights of the week in news.
