The website ProPublica called the map a tyrannosaurus — with its hungry mouth taking a bite out of Democratic-leaning Douglas County to push Wisconsin’s 73rd Assembly district Republican. Now, the maps have been redrawn, with the state Supreme Court agreeing they more fairly reflect Wisconsin’s voting demographics. University of Wisconsin-Superior Political Science Professor Alisa Von Hagel joins “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington to discuss the new maps, and what they mean for the state’s balance of power.
Plus, Tom Cawcutt grew up in Superior and started playing piano at the age of three. He later declined an opportunity to attend the Juilliard School of Music, leaving him to sometimes wonder, “what if?” Music fans don’t have to wonder, however, and can enjoy Cawcutt’s performances of classical, pop and original compositions at venues throughout the region. He joins Washington to share his work and musical journey.
