A years-in-the-making effort to boost economic development via an exposition district in Superior received a shot in the arm at the Wisconsin State Legislature this spring. Bills sponsored by Sen. Romaine Quinn, R-Cameron, and Rep. Angie Sapik, R-Lake Nebagamon, would allow the city to create a center to host and promote conventions and other events. Quinn and Superior Business Improvement District Executive Director Kelly Peterson join “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington to discuss the plan at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21.
Also, their band formed in the Twin Ports — with roots notably at the University of Wisconsin-Superior — and made a critically acclaimed splash on the local music scene before heading to California two years ago. Now, One Less Guest is on tour with a return stop at Superior’s Earth Rider Brewery on July 22, in a tribute to the late singer Afrogeode in collaboration with her band, the Gemstones. One Less Guest’s bandmates join Washington with selections from their new album, local reminisces, and stories of life on the road.
