In the wake of the horrific attack by Hamas in Israel on Oct. 7, the Twin Ports Muslim and Jewish communities are offering support to one another — and helping hands holding paint brushes. On Sunday, members of Duluth’s Temple Israel joined congregants at the Islamic Center of Twin Ports (ICTP) to paint over graffiti at the Muslim house of worship. The paintover follows a message of condolences from the ICTP shared at a special service at Temple Israel following the attack in Israel. John Dahl of ICTP and Debbie Freedman of Temple Israel join “Simply Superior” host Robin Washington on Friday at 10 a.m. to discuss their joint activities and the longstanding friendship between the two congregations
Plus, he’s one the most outlandish movie directors ever (intentionally so), and he’s coming to Duluth. John Waters, the director of the cult classics “Pink Flamingos” and “Desperate Living” and the mainstream and wildly successful “Hairspray” joins Washington to talk about his career and legacy before a two-night appearance at The West Theatre Oct. 25-26, complete with several of his films.
