In 2013, a Supreme Court decision known as the Shelby ruling invalidated a key part of the Voting Rights Act. We explore the history of voting rights and the aftereffects of the Shelby ruling. We also discuss gerrymandering and the rise of voter ID laws and consider what’s being done both to hinder and to push for voter rights.
