The rise of the internet has fundamentally changed our relationship with knowledge and information…and while that’s brought about a lot of good, it’s also led to the rise of misinformation, and unproven theories being passed off as fact. One field that’s been particularly impacted by the web? Science. Thanks to the democratic nature of the web, just about anyone can upload scientific information, regardless of its accuracy…and it could be having a big impact on scientific literacy in America. Our guest this hour says that in order to counter that, scientists and academics must do a better job of adapting to the web, communicating their message online, and making broader connections between their research and our society, at large. He joins us to share the possible path forward.
