The freedom of runaway slaves, the government right to regulate corporations, the power of administrative agencies to make regulations affecting businesses, worker’s compensation—in the past 150 years, Wisconsin law has paved the way for federal laws regarding the rights of individuals, businesses, and educational facilities. Attorney and author Joseph A. Ranney will guide us through some notable cases in which Wisconsin law set precedent for federal lawmaking. And we’ll look at a few of the colorful characters who were instrumental in shaping Wisconsin law.
