The U.S. Attorney in Milwaukee is joining advocates against gun violence and raising awareness about death rates due to firearms.
Jim Santelle is the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Speaking to advocates and victims of gun violence gathered in Milwaukee Wednesday, he says that even legal gun ownership is a potential hazard to families. “In America today, when guns are in homes, even lawfully and legitimately, it is much more likely that they’ll be used to perpetuate and to cause violence internal to the family,” he says.
Santelle also says that while he respects the second amendment right of Americans to own guns, he stresses the importance of responsible gun ownership.
