It’s a major travel weekend everywhere, but officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation say people coming to and going from northeastern Wisconsin have a few extra concerns to be aware of.
Construction on the expansion of state Highway 41 will be shut down this weekend, but some orange barrels will still be out and lanes and shoulders will be narrowed.
It’s the amount of traffic that might be a concern. Kim Rudat, a DOT spokesman, said that many events are coinciding this weekend.

“You have your Thanksgiving-Black Friday shopping, you have your Thanksgiving holiday, which is a big travel holiday,” he said. “You have deer hunters going up north, coming back from up north. And Sunday afternoon at about 3:25 (p.m.) you have the start of a (Green Bay Packers) game, a home Packer game here in Green Bay.”
Weather isn’t expected to be an issue though some light snow might fall on Friday night.
Rudat said hunters and Packers fans just need to use common sense and allow extra travel time.
