Uline, a company that moved its corporate headquarters from Illinois to Wisconsin just a few years ago, is now expanding.

The family-owned distributor of shipping supplies built a 200,000-square-foot office building and a million-square-foot warehouse just off of Interstate 94 in Pleasant Prairie four years ago. Now it’s doubling its footprint with another warehouse and a second office building of equal sizes.

At the announcement event attended by Gov. Scott Walker, Brian Uihlein said company growth is the name of the game.

I’ve sat around and I’ve seen a tremendous amount of companies that have been on top, and become complacent and sit around and smell the roses, and not thinking they have to grow,” said Uihlein. “A lot of them have died, and that’s not going to happen to Uline.”

The expansion will increase the size of the existing 1,100-employee workforce in Pleasant Prairie by 500, a move applauded by Walker.

“We’re so pleased to have you here in southeastern Wisconsin in Kenosha County and Pleasant Prairie, and it’s part of a great trend,” said Walker.

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser and Pleasant Prairie Village President John Steinbrink both described Uline as a model corporate citizen. Shortly after moving here, the company donated $8 million to finance construction of an Olympic-sized swimming pool at the RecPlex, a village-owned health and recreation center.
