The first winter storm of the season is expected to hit far southern Wisconsin Friday evening, with meteorologists predicting it will bring 4 to 8 inches of snow.
The National Weather Service in La Crosse says a storm system from the Pacific Northwest will sweep across Iowa Saturday afternoon before grazing the southern edge of the Badger State. Meteorologist Todd Shea said accumulations could be significant along the border.
“It could get a couple counties north into the state, and even kind of curve up and hit southeast Wisconsin a little bit,” he said.

However, he said the snow won’t stick around for long: “With temperatures climbing back up into the 40s potentially next week, I think a lot of that will melt.”
Shea said another system is heading north and will likely cause a rainy Thanksgiving.
